Thief pulls tiny French bulldog puppy out of garden away from mum in horror CCTV

The heartbreaking moment a family’s beloved puppy was stolen from their garden and thrown in a carrier bag was caught on video.

Shocking CCTV footage shows a man climbing over the garden fence and approaching Minnie, an eight-week-old French bulldog.

When the young dog’s mum approaches the man calms her, before grabbing the puppy by the scruff of her neck and putting her in a carrier bag.

Minnie’s owner, who did not wish to be named, says police arrested the pair at their home but there was no sign of Minnie.

Vowing not to stop until they find their missing pet, the mum told Hull Live : “My girls are seven and four and they are both besides themselves. They dote on her.

“My youngest daughter when she realises Minnie isn’t there. It was my little girl’s birthday yesterday and we were out getting a bite to eat to celebrate and that’s when Minnie was stolen.

“Normally, when we get back the dogs come running out to meet us but Minnie was nowhere to be seen. It sounds silly but there was a big owl on the fence the other night and I thought she had been taken by the bird.

“It was only when I viewed the cameras that we realised what had happened. I never thought someone would have stolen her.”

“Minnie is just eight weeks old and she should not be outside beyond our garden yet. We have only just got her first injection but she is still susceptible to diseases. We have also just got her microchipped so we will be able to identify her if she is found.

“The police arrested the two of them but when they went round to their address Minnie wasn’t there. We are really worried about her welfare.

“They just threw her in a carrier bag, who does that? I don’t know what they have done with Minnie, whether they have sold her or swapped her for drugs.”

The woman is appealing for anyone who may have bought a French bulldog puppy privately in the last day or two to contact the police or an animal welfare charity to see if it could be Minnie.

She said: “It’s awful. Someone else may have bought her in good faith to make their own child happy but she is not theirs which is so difficult.

Technically, they are handling stolen good but we just want Minnie back. If someone realises they have her then just drop her off somewhere anonymously.

“We just want Minnie to be safe and back with us. She is not used to be away from us. I won’t stop until I find her.”

A spokesman for Humberside Police told the Mirror: “Two people have been arrested following reports of a theft near Stoneferry, Hull, that occurred on Saturday 2 July.

“It was reported that two people were involved in the theft of a dog from a private garden.

“A man and a woman were arrested yesterday and remain in our custody at this time.

“If anyone has information that may assist with our enquiries, you can contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 109 of 3 July.”
